General information
Apprehension starts at a cracking pace as the player crashes his tram through a steel door and into a flooded silo. From there, the player must make his way through the semi-flooded abandoned facility and fight his way to the surface. Once there, the player is captured by a squad of soldiers. He regains consciousness in a garbage compactor and must escape before being crushed.
Chapter style
Corroding metal hallways, flooded corridors, deteriorated metal panelling and grimy concrete give the chapter a feeling of being left to the elements.
Atmosphere
The tram crash at the beginning sets the pace for the rest of the chapter's action. It's intense run-and-gun for the most part, mixed with short puzzles or environmental hazards. This fast pace is broken at the player's capture, after which the entire game slows down to allow the player time to recover.
Other information
Apprehension was the first chapter that I was assigned to when I joined Black Mesa. I was completely new to the experience of making singeplayer maps and I had a lot to learn. I worked on and off on the chapter for quite some time and I finished the last part in February 2009. |
